I am looking for a number of US births in each month from January 1985 to December 1994. I have looked on NCHS's website and cannot find it. Can you help me?

There are two choices for you. The first is to use the annual Supplement of the Monthly Vital Statistics Report, Report of of Final Natality Statistics. Table 8 provides monthly-specific data. The volumes are on-line as pdfs:

I have created an electronic file for you with births x months x year.
In addition, you could produce this yourself using the natality detail files. We have the data as does ICPSR. Use "natality" in the search box:
