I am confused about the different paths to access data and work areas at PSC.
A:
Our computing environment allows users to work from multiple platforms. The following table provides the equivalencies:
Name -Shared
Purpose - temporary storage/work space (not backed up)
Unix path - /usr/shared
Windows drive - T:\ or ‘Sinope\Shared’ (T:)
Name - Work
Purpose - work areas for projects
Unix path - /usr/work
Network drive - W:\ or ‘Work on ‘Callisto’ (W:)
Name - Data (on-line data)
Purpose - online data repository, under control of data services
Unix path - /usr/data
Network drive - V:\ or ‘data on Samba or ‘Miranda’ (V:)
