Do you know anything about the National Longitudinal Mortality Study? I am interested in whether the cause of death (CAUSE) is available in the public use data.

A:  

I am not an expert on this file, but in looking at their public use documentation on-line, it looks like they have the 4-digit ICD code for the underlying cause of death:

We do not have the public use version of the data so that I could confirm the availability of the item. However, a note on the request form indicates the items that were excluded from the public-use data were "all geographical information" and "the complete NLMS follow-up history."
